Meet Monica

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).  I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Hawai'i and further pursued my passion by obtaining a master's degree in counseling from Amberton University.  I have had the privilege of working in various mental health settings, including mental health clinics and psychiatric hospitals, where I have provided support to individuals, teenagers, and families facing a wide range of challenges.  This experience has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the diverse needs of my clients, from severe mental illness to everyday stressors and difficulties in coping with life's challenges.

In addition to my private practice, I extend my services to assisted living facilities and nursing facilities throughout Texas.  By doing so, I aim to reach individuals who may require therapeutic support in these specific environments.

Within my private practice, I specialized in working with teens aged 14 and above, as well as adults, who are struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and trauma.  As a bilingual therapist, I am fluent in both English and Spanish, enabling me to provide therapy in both languages to better serve my clients.

One quote that resonates deeply with my therapeutic philosophy is by Gerald Corey: "People take charge of their lives, rather than being victims of circumstance beyond their control."  This quote encapsulates my belief in empowering individuals to reclaim their agency and find their path towards healing and growth.

In my personal life, I find joy in spending quality time with my husband and two children.
